Chen Balanquit is a US accountant at Dark Horse CPAs, with a strong foundation in accounting and audit, shaped by both corporate and public practice experience. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila, where her interest in numbers, structure, and problem-solving first took shape.
Chen began her career as a finance staff member in a local manufacturing company, where she handled Accounts Payable and cash-related transactions and developed a solid understanding of day-to-day financial operations. She later transitioned into public accounting, spending over four years with a global auditing firm as a Senior Associate. In this role, she supported multiple audit engagements across the United States, working closely with diverse teams and contributing to the delivery of high-quality audit services with consistency and professionalism.
Outside of the office, Chen is the eldest of four sisters and values time spent with her family. She finds balance by escaping to the province on weekends, where nature provides a welcome pause from the pace of city life. A self-described homebody, she enjoys unwinding through movies and series, while also embracing a slower, more hands-on lifestyle. Together with her partner, Chen manages a small poultry farm — spending her days feeding chickens, collecting eggs, and tending to a budding garden. They also share a love for exploring local cafés, supporting small businesses, and discovering the best coffee their community has to offer.
